How to add the delivery date picker to your product page
Show delivery date selection on the product page — before customers add to cart. Configured entirely from the Theme Editor, no code required.
For some products, the delivery date is part of the buying decision. A customer ordering a birthday bouquet needs to know it'll arrive on Friday — before they add to cart, not after. A customer ordering a custom cake needs to see that delivery is available for their event date before they commit. Placing the date picker on the product page captures that preference at the earliest possible moment.
This placement works best for stores where the delivery date is product-specific — florists, gifting brands, made-to-order items, and pre-order products with lead times. If your customers typically add multiple items and choose one delivery date for the whole order, slide cart or cart page placement may be a better fit. For a full comparison, see the placement guide.
This guide covers how to add the Flare date picker to your product pages through the Theme Editor, and how to control which products show it.
Add the date picker to your product pages
Part A gets the picker live. Part B covers controlling which products show it.
Part A — Add the date picker
This works with any Shopify Online Store 2.0 theme that supports app blocks in the product template. Takes under five minutes.
- Install the Flare app from the Shopify App Store
- Open the Flare app and begin the setup flow
- In Step 1, click "Add to your theme"
- Under "Where do you want to place the picker?", choose "Product Page"
- Click "Add to theme" — this opens the Shopify Theme Editor in a new tab
- Flare automatically inserts the product page date picker into your product template
- Click Save in the top-right of the Theme Editor to make it live
- Return to Flare and confirm "Yes, it worked fine", then click Continue
- To test: go to Online Store > View your store, navigate to a product, and confirm the picker appears
Part B — Control which products show the picker Optional
By default, the picker appears on all products. If you only need it on certain products — for example, fresh food but not gift cards — you can limit it.
Show on specific products or collections
Use Flare's visibility conditions to show the picker only on products with a specific tag, or only on products within a specific collection.
- In the Flare app, go to Settings
- Find the product page visibility conditions
- Set conditions by tag (e.g. "delivery-required") or by collection
- Save — the picker now only appears on matching products
Change the label text
The default label is "Delivery date." To change it:
- In the Theme Editor, click the Flare date picker block
- In the block settings panel, edit the label text field
- Enter your preferred label (e.g. "Choose delivery date", "When do you need this?")
- Click Save

Product page placement — answered
Yes. You can control which products show the picker using tags, collections, or conditions in Flare. For example, show the picker on all products in a "Fresh" collection but hide it on gift cards or digital products.
Yes. The date picker is compatible with product variants — the available dates update based on the selected variant if you've set variant-level lead times. It also works alongside Shopify's dynamic checkout buttons ("Buy it now").
It depends on your store. Product page placement works best when the delivery date is part of the buying decision — flowers, gifts, made-to-order items. Cart placement works best when customers add multiple items and choose one date for the whole order. You can use both — Flare handles them independently.
No. The product page date picker works on every Shopify plan — Basic, Shopify, Advanced, and Plus. Shopify Plus is only required for checkout page placement.
