Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 March 2026

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Flare Pay Ltd ("Flare", "we", "us") collects and uses personal data when you install or use the Flare app or visit our website.

By using Flare, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Who this applies to

This policy applies to Shopify merchants who install and use the Flare app. It does not apply to your customers (the buyers who shop at your store).

Merchants are responsible for their own store's privacy policy toward buyers. Flare does not operate as a data controller for your customers' personal information beyond what is strictly required for delivery date functionality.

Data we collect

We collect the following information when you use Flare:

  • Name, email address, Shopify store URL, and business address
  • Billing information, processed securely through Shopify's billing system
  • Configuration settings — your calendar rules, delivery windows, and shipping method settings
  • Usage data — feature preferences and how you interact with Flare
  • Customer delivery date selections, only where you have enabled this functionality in your store

How we use your data

We use your information to:

  • Provide, support, and improve the Flare service
  • Assist with onboarding and setup of your delivery rules
  • Send communications about updates, new features, and service issues
  • Handle billing transactions through Shopify's payment infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot issues and optimise performance for your store

Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:

  • Trusted vendors and service providers who help us operate Flare, all bound by confidentiality agreements
  • Law enforcement or regulatory authorities where required by law
  • A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — you will be notified in advance
  • Any party with your explicit consent

How long we keep data

We retain your data for as long as your store uses Flare, and for any additional periods required by law or legitimate operational need after uninstallation.

When you uninstall Flare, we will begin the process of deleting your store's data in accordance with Shopify's partner requirements and applicable data protection law.

International data transfers

Your data may be processed in the United Kingdom, the European Union, or the United States, depending on the infrastructure and service providers we use.

Where data is transferred outside the UK or EU, we use standard contractual clauses approved by relevant data protection authorities, alongside secure infrastructure and access controls, to ensure your data is protected.

Your GDPR rights

If you are located in the UK or EU, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • The right to access the data we hold about you
  • The right to request corrections to inaccurate data
  • The right to request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • The right to object to or restrict certain types of processing
  • The right to data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@getflare.co.uk. We will respond within 30 days.

Marketing emails & opt-out

You may receive marketing communications from us about product updates, new features, and relevant resources. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in any email we send.

Unsubscribing from marketing will not affect essential app communications, such as service notices, security alerts, or billing-related messages.

Children under 13

Flare is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a child's information has been shared with us, please contact us at support@getflare.co.uk and we will delete it promptly.

How we protect your data

We take security seriously. Our protections include:

  • Encryption of data in transit and at rest
  • Strictly limited access controls — only people who need your data to do their job can access it
  • Continuous monitoring for security vulnerabilities and anomalous activity

No system is completely immune to attack. If you discover a security issue, please report it to support@getflare.co.uk.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we will notify you via email or in-app notification.

Continued use of Flare after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
