How to install Flare on your Shopify store

From the Shopify App Store to a live delivery date picker on your store — in under ten minutes, with no developer and no code.

5 min read Last updated: Apr 2026

Installing Flare takes about thirty seconds — it's a standard Shopify app install from the App Store. The setup wizard that follows takes another five to ten minutes and walks you through everything: where to place the date picker, which days you deliver, and any dates you need to block. By the end, you'll have a working delivery date picker on your store.

No theme code is changed during install. The date picker is added through the Shopify Theme Editor (or Checkout Editor for Plus), which means it can be removed just as easily. Flare doesn't modify your theme files, doesn't add scripts to your storefront, and doesn't affect page load speed when the picker isn't visible.

This guide walks through both the install and the setup wizard. If you've already installed and want to jump to a specific placement or rule configuration, see the related guides below.

Step by step

Install Flare and complete the setup wizard

Part A installs the app. Part B walks through the setup wizard to get your date picker live.

Part A — Install from the Shopify App Store

Standard Shopify app install. Takes about thirty seconds.

  1. Go to the Flare listing on the Shopify App Store
  2. Click "Add app" (or "Install" if you've visited before)
  3. Shopify will ask you to approve permissions — review and click "Install app"
  4. Flare opens in your Shopify admin — the setup wizard starts automatically
The permissions Flare requests are standard for delivery apps: read/write access to orders (to attach delivery dates), themes (to add the picker via Theme Editor), and shipping (to calculate rates and zones).

Part B — Complete the setup wizard

The wizard walks through each configuration step. You can change any of these settings later from the Flare dashboard — the wizard gets you live quickly.

  1. Choose your placement — select where the date picker will appear: slide cart, cart page, product page, or checkout (Plus only)
  2. Add to your theme — click "Add to theme" and Flare opens the Theme Editor with the picker block pre-configured. Click Save in the Theme Editor.
  3. Set available delivery days — toggle which days of the week you deliver (e.g. uncheck Saturday and Sunday for weekday-only delivery)
  4. Set blocked dates — add any dates you can't deliver: bank holidays, warehouse closures, seasonal blackouts
  5. Set a cut-off time — optional: set a time after which today's date is no longer available (e.g. 12pm for same-day delivery)
  6. Review and go live — check the preview calendar, confirm everything looks right, click Save
You can change any of these settings later from the Flare dashboard. The wizard gets you live quickly — fine-tuning comes after.

Common questions

Installing Flare — answered

No. Flare doesn't add scripts to your storefront. The date picker loads as a native Shopify app block through the Theme Editor (or Checkout Editor on Plus). It only loads on pages where the picker is placed and has no impact on pages without it.

Flare requests standard Shopify app permissions: read/write access to orders (to attach delivery dates and tags), themes (to add the picker via the Theme Editor), and shipping (to calculate rates and zones). These are reviewed and approved during install.

Yes. Uninstalling Flare from your Shopify admin removes the app and its theme blocks. No theme code is left behind. The 7-day free trial means you can test everything before committing.

Most stores are live within ten minutes. The install itself takes thirty seconds. The setup wizard walks through placement, delivery days, blocked dates, and cut-off times in about five to ten minutes. Advanced configuration — postcode zones, product-level rules, shipping rate automation — can be added later without downtime.
